St. Pio of Pietrelcina
St. Pio of Pietrelcina
Sensitive Stigmatist 1844–1879
Patronage Stress Relief, Anxiety, Unnecessary Worries & Hardships
Feast Day September 23
Padre Pio had mystical experiences with supernatural phenomena. There are reports of him reading minds in the confessional. He also received the visible stigmata wounds of Jesus on his hands, feet and side. Pio felt he was “a mystery to himself” and hoped his gifts could be shared with the public. The Vatican tried to hide him to no avail. His wounds lasted for fifty years until vanishing for his death.
Small Snippet
Saint Pio, intercede to the Holy Ghost that I may be at peace with my worries and anxieties, trusting that I will be okay no matter what happens.

Original Photo
A public domain photo of Padre Pio from Italy from circa 1947 until 23 September 1968
Chamomile
Chamomile is used to calm the nerves, and symbolizes Padre Pio’s patronage of worries and anxieties.
Blood Orange
I first discovered this fruit in Italy when I studied abroad as a student. Because of the strong association, I felt it would be the right fit for Padre Pio.
Coleus and White Rose
The white rose has a pure, mystical quality to it, representing Padre Pio’s ability to read minds, bilocate, and his stigmata.
The coleus emanated the right colors to complete the piece.
